Emotions Memory Game

Practising language is fun. You can practise sentences at home in any language. Play this game to use words about feelings or emotions. You can say 'I feel surprised' or 'I am worried' with your child.

  1. Print two or more copies of the Emotions Memory Game.
  2. Glue the pattern sheet to the back of the character sheet.
  3. Cut out the cards.
  4. Shuffle the cards and lay them on the table face down.
  5. On each turn a player turns over any two cards, one at a time.
  6. Say the word on the card, 'Happy, I feel happy'. Make a happy face.
  7. If they match the player keeps them.
  8. If they do not match, the cards are turned face down. It is the next person’s turn.
  9. The trick is to remember which cards are where.
  10. The person with the most cards at the end of the game wins.

Emotions Lotto and ELLIC emoji sheet

Practising language is fun. You can practise sentences at home in any language. Play this game to practice emotion words. You can say 'I feel happy’ or 'I am proud’ with your child.

  1. Print the Emotions Lotto. This will give you four boards, enough for four players.
  2. Print the ELLIC emoji sheet. Cut out the cards along the dotted lines.
  3. Lay the emoji cards face down on the table.
  4. Each player takes one Emotions Lotto board and places it in front of them.
  5. On each turn a player turns over one emoji card.
  6. Say the emotion that is on the card. For example, ‘Surprised, I feel surprised’.
  7. If the emotion on the emoji card matches a picture on the player’s lotto board, it is a match.
  8. They place the card on their board.
  9. If they do not match, the card is turned face down.
  10. The first person to cover all the emotions on their board with cards is the winner.

Emotions poster

  1. Make a face.
  2. Point to the feeling on the poster.
  3. Say the word. For example, ‘Sad’.
  4. Say:
    I feel …. or,
    I am ….
  5. Ask the child to make the face you point to.
    You feel ….
    You are ….
  6. With more than one child you can say:
    She feels ….
    He is ….
    They are ….

Fruit Bingo

Practising language is fun. You can practise sentences at home in any language. Play this game to use fruit words and likes or dislikes. You can say 'I like banana' or 'I love pineapple' or 'I don’t like oranges' with your child.

  1. Print the Fruit Bingo Game. Print it once for two players or print twice for four players.
  2. Cut out the cards along the dotted lines.
  3. Lay the fruit cards face down on the table.
  4. Each player takes one chopping board sheet and places it in front of them.
  5. On each turn a player turns over one card.
  6. Say the fruit that is on the card and whether you like or dislike it. For example, ‘Apples, I like apples’.
  7. If the fruit on the card matches a picture on the player’s chopping board, it is a match.
  8. They place the card on their board.
  9. If they do not match, the card is turned face down.
  10. The first person to cover all the fruits on their chopping board with cards is the winner.
